Using an Easy Quick Jumper

  1. Make sure the headlights, internal lights, stereo, air conditioning, and all other accessories on both vehicles are turned off.
  2. Connect the short, black plug to the “live” vehicle with the functioning battery.
  3. Connect the red plug with the longer power cord to the vehicle with the dead battery. Switch the ignition lock of the dead vehicle to the “ACCESSORY” position.
  4. Then start the engine of the vehicle with the functioning battery; the red LED will turn on.
  5. About 10 minutes later, when the red LED turns to green, start the engine of the dead vehicle.
  6. Once the engine on the dead vehicle starts, remove the plugs from the cigarette lighter sockets on both vehicles.
  7. Allow the engine on the “just-started” vehicle to warm up to operating temperature before driving.

Using an Self-Charge Auto Jumper

  1. Turn off lights and all other electrical accessories (e.g. fan, radio, windshield wipers, etc.) Turn on the small interior light to use as an indicator that the battery is charging.
  2. If you have a car alarm, the car alarm must be put into “Valet Mode”. Many popular car alarms will cut off power to the vehicles electrical system. If you have this type of alarm, the Self Charge Auto Jumper will not work if the alarm is engaged.
  3. Make sure your cigarette lighter socket is clean and free of debris.
  4. Plug the Self Charge Auto Jumper into the cigarette lighter socket.
  5. Push the “On/Off” button to the “On” Position.
  6. The light on the 12 Volt cigarette connector will illuminate to show charging has begun. The interior light will also illuminate.
  7. If the light or dial does not brighten, turn on the ignition key to the “Accessories” position (see vehicle owner’s manual). If your vehicle’s 12 Volt cigarette lighter or power source is off when the ignition is off, be sure the ignition key is set to the “Accessories” position during the recharging process.
  8. If the interior light does not brighten, turn off the interior light. Allow the unit to remain in the cigarette lighter for at least 35 minutes.
  9. Attempt to start the vehicle. If the vehicle does not start, DO NOT attempt to start the engine more than twice. Call a service center or tow truck.
  10. Be sure to re-charge Self Charge Auto Jumper when convenient.

Using Traditional Jumper Cables with 2 vehicles:

  1. Place the Vehicle in “PARK” and ensure that the Parking Brake is active.
  2. Turn off ALL vehicle electronics including: Headlights, Radio, DC Accessories, etc.
  3. Make sure the vehicles are NOT touching.
  4. Place the Jumper Cable RED (+) Positive Clamp on the battery Positive (+) post/terminal of the “dead” battery.
  5. Place the other Jumper Cable RED (+) Positive Clamp on the battery Positive (+) post/terminal of the “good” battery.
  6. Place the Jumper Cable BLACK (-) Negative Clamp on the battery Negative (-) post/terminal of the “good” battery.

CAUTION: JUMPER CLAMPS ARE NOW LIVE – DO NOT TOUCH THEM TOGETHER!

  1. Place the other Jumper Cable BLACK (-) Negative Clamp on an unpainted Metal surface (bolt, body, frame) of the “dead” vehicle.
  2. Ensure all of the connections are correct and firmly connected
  3. Ensure that the Jumper Cables are safely placed and will not fall inside the engine compartment.
  4. If safe to proceed, start the engine of the “good” vehicle and let run for approximately 2-3 minutes.
  5. Start the engine of the “dead” vehicle.
  6. Once “dead” vehicle starts, let run for a moment then remove Jumper Clamps in reverse order while being careful not to touch the clamps together.

*In certain instances, the vehicle may not start when the BLACK (-) Negative Clamp is placed on a frame bolt, body panel, or the frame itself. In these cases, attach the BLACK (-) Negative Clamp directly to the battery’s NEGATIVE (-) post/terminal and USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN DOING SO as there is a greater chance of FIRE or EXPLOSION when using this method.
