Elite™ 400W PRO Elite™ 400W Pro Inverter
Wagan Tech® Elite™ Pure Sine Power Inverters convert 12V DC (car) power into 120V AC (wall outlet) power that is identical to your home (commercial) electrical power—in true, pure sine wave form. Compared to the traditional inverters, which output in modified sine wave, AC power in pure sine wave form will operate your electronics with cleaner, cooler, and quieter energy.
Elite 400W Pro Front Features
The Elite 400W Pro is purpose built for the user. On the front panel, you will find two 120V AC outlets (the same as found in your home), a 2.1A USB Power port, power and fault LEDs, and the Inverter power switch.

On the rear of the inverter is the fan grille (for the internal cooling fan), negative and positive terminals, and the grounding terminal. You will find four mounting points built into the case to ensure the Elite 400W Pro is able to be mounted where you need it.
Safety and Strength
The Elite 400W Pro also features a low battery alarm and an automatic low battery shutdown feature that will notify you when your battery is getting low (10.5V ± 0.5V) and will shut down the inverter to protect the battery from over-discharging and possibly damaging it (9.5V ± 0.5V). With over-load, over-heat, short-circuit, low battery, and reverse polarity protection, you can rest assured that your investments are well protected.

 

The Elite 400W Pro also comes with both DC positive/negative terminal leads that can be plugged into your vehicle cigarette lighter receptacle and the Alligator clamp positive/negative cable leads that can be attached directly to your vehicle’s battery.

Why Pure Sine Waves over Modified Sine Waves?
For today’s sensitive electronics, it makes a huge difference. Pure Sine Waves (PSW) allows these electronics to run cooler (less cycling), cleaner, and with less noise. PSW is the output form that comes from the AC Wall outlet in your house and is the most clean. Additionally, some electronics and appliances simply will not operate on a Modified Sine Wave. Sample items that will not operate on an MSW are: some laptops, printers, coffee makers, dimmers, digital clocks, fluorescent lights, fans, microwaves, drills… the list goes on. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great customer service I just received a 400w 2601. I have not used it yet but it looks well built and has built in mounting points that none of my other units had. My last 400 w Wagan unit fail and I asked customer service for help. I am on the road so they quickly sent the replacement unit to the rv park I am in. In addition their tech dept was happy to review my wiring to make sure I did not cause the failure. Extremely good customer service

What size copper cable should I use to connect the inverter to my 12v car battery with 13' of cable (assuming 2 x 13' = 26' of cable - positive and negative cables)?

Kevin, Under the most demanding load of 400W continuous over the 26' round trip, we'd recommend 4 or 6 AWG wire. If the load is not sustained or under less wattage requirements, smaller AWG wire can be used.

What is the maximum amp draw that this inverter pulls? At 800 Peak Watts at 12 VDC should the wire not be 4 AWG to manage the 75 AMPs created over the 13 feet? I need to fuse/breaker appropriately at max load for my power distribution in my boat.

The max draw would be 7.3A (800W Peak / 110V), but the max draw is for only a split second. Realistically, the draws is only 3.6A. If the wiring is 13' one way (you need to calculate round-trip), that would be 400W over a distance of 26' (if using the full 400W for a long duration. We recommend a 40A fuse and 4 or 6AWG Wire.

Directly to my car battery. &nbsp;Had problem understanding instructions provided. &nbsp;I am using 10 gauge. &nbsp;Should I first ground it to the &nbsp;chassis, then run a wire from + side of device to +of battery then -side of device to -ve of battery of my car??? Please&nbsp;

Samuel, If temporarily mounting the inverter for use, run the + (red) cable to the + (positive) battery terminal and the - (black) cable to the - (negative) battery terminal. The ground on the inverter should be connected by wire to a solid chassis ground on your vehicle (see manufacturer).

Hello, I am wiring this inverter into a small solar generator. I was wondering if it is necessary to wire in a circuit breaker between the battery and the inverter for added protection. Also what size circuit breaker would be appropriate? Thanks

Hi Jay, We would recommend that you always use an ANL Fuse or circuit breaker when wiring an inverter. This inverter would require a fuse of 40A.

I am searching for a quiet unit for sleep use with a CPAP ventilator. Do you have any noise specs for the cooling fan? Can you characterize the sound ie high and whiny vs low hum etc?

Will this inverter work without a ground wire? I'll be attaching it to one of my wheelchair batteries, so it must be mobile.

This inverter will work without a ground wire for devices that have only two prongs. If the appliance being plugged in requires a 3 prong plug, we do not suggest using the inverter without a ground.

Want to use a Elite 400W Pro on a vehicle to power a LED floodlight drawing approximately 2.5 amps. Is it possible to use an AC plug equipped with a GFCI to connect the floodlight to the inverter?

I've tried this in two cars. Both have 15A fuses to the cigarette lighter. Both times when I turn it on, the red LED lights up and immediately dims while the thing makes a constant beeping sound. 2 different cars produced the same result. Is it broken?
